Drs. Ken and Miranda Jones formerly at Edinburgh University established
the winery in 1998. Assistant winemaker Felix Jones specialises in wine
sales and is often to be found entertaining visitors at the cellar door
- when he's not being a paramedic in Melbourne.
The tasting room is open every day from 10am until 6pm (winter) and 10am until 7pm (summer). As well as via the Internet, which accounts for a substantial proportion of our sales, the wines are available at the cellar door, at selected restaurants and at local retail outlets. |
Big Shed winery is in the southern Australian State of Victoria 1 ¼ hours from central Melbourne and 15k from Daylesford on the Daylesford to Malmsbury road near the small town of Glenlyon. The winery is in the Macedon Ranges wine region which is celebrated for its cool climate wines Big Shed wines are hand made using a traditional approach but with modern equipment and with minimum or no preservatives, avoiding the use of animal products.James Halliday gave Big Shed an excellent review and this assessment has been confirmed by the award of medals for many of our wines at many local wine shows. Our annual crush is around 15 tonnes.
